On June 6, 2025, the Stuttgart Media University (HdM) was the scene of a very special event: As part of the ADD Conference, our two managing directors visited the campus – and one of them brought back a highlight that will likely resonate with many participants for a long time to come.

When the Sense of Smell Becomes a Communication Channel
Jens Reißmann, one of our two Managing Directors, gave an inspiring and insightful presentation on the topic of "The Power of Scents." In it, he explored how much our sense of smell influences our thoughts, feelings, and actions – and the enormous potential this offers for brands, products, and spaces.
From scent-driven brand loyalty to targeted emotional appeal through room fragrances – the presentation was a fascinating journey into the world of olfactory communication. It became clear that scents are more than just pleasant accompaniments. They are highly effective stimuli that can guide decisions, activate memories, and build trust.
Scent Marketing as an Underestimated Success Factor
In times of digital sensory overload and constant visual presence, the invisible is increasingly coming into focus. Scent marketing is a tool that can give brands a decisive competitive advantage today – if used strategically. Jens Reißmann used practical examples to demonstrate how companies can not only improve customer experiences but also transport brand identity to a deeper level through targeted fragrance concepts.
Exchange, Inspiration, and a Lot of Curiosity
The presentation was part of the ADD Conference, which regularly highlights current developments at the interface of design, technology, and communication at the Stuttgart Media University. The open atmosphere and the keen interest of students and trade visitors provided the perfect setting for exchange and discussion.
We were delighted by the engaged audience – and especially by the interested questions that were asked after the presentation. This shows us once again how relevant the topic of fragrance has become in the context of modern communication strategies.
Thank you, Stuttgart Media University!
A heartfelt thank you goes to the Stuttgart Media University and the entire ADD Conference organizing team for the invitation, the professional implementation, and the inspiring setting. We are proud to have been part of this event and look forward to future encounters and collaborations.
